View Full Version : Proposal for QK Summer Campaign: Clan Invasion 3050
The Question

It's been far too long since we last played 'Tech, and I think not only do we need to play more of it, but we should try to get some new players for the system.
Therefore, I propose that over the school summer holidays, that I run a series of linked games in QK based on the initial Clan Invasion of the Inner Sphere. This way I hope to ease veteran players back into the game and attract new players but without confusing them too much with things such as stealth armour, C3, etc.
Any one have any opinions?
Peace of Blake be with you.
As soon as i can find my mechs ill be there :P
im in with my clan force and ill bring my mercs for others to use if needed :D

Clan Wolf will be there!
Just a note to the clan players as its the 3050 invasion you will need 3050 mechs and have to use honour, alot of us have very late clan mech designs as the last campaign was set very late in the timeline.

I'm not sure I'll be able to cope without the C3;) , but I'll struggle on anyway.
I mean us Draconis Combine are used to having such little cheese compared to everybody else that I spose having none at all is almost the same:D
Count me in, I might not be able to play all of the while but would still like to take part if thats ok?

Don't let the Davion players hear you say that.;)
I intend for this to be rather casual, so 100% attendence isn't mandatory. As I said I intend this to get some new players on board so the emphasis is on fun rather than Raagh-Cheese-Death-Force-Go! as to do otherwise would put new players off.
Tentively, Clan Honor will be set at Level 1 to start with and may be lowered if the dezgra Inner Sphere look like they're winning too easily.
With regards to 3050 Clan mechs, the following Clan Mechs are available;
Mad Cat(If you dont have this mech, why are you playing Clan? I mean, it's one of THE iconic mechs, like an Atlas.)
Daishi
Masakari
Ryoken
Puma
Dasher
Gladiator
Black Lanner
Most, if not all IIC Designs (Hunchback IIC, Marauder IIC etc.)
Black Hawk
Dragonfly
Goshawk
Loki
Thor
And thats off the top of my head. I presume most experienced Clan players have at least some of these.
hey i will do my best to pop down for a few games would be fun to use basic tech for a change
Ill dig some davion stuff outi think i have enough of it

STOP PRESS: After reading Jihad Hotspots 3072, have found disrepences between the rules in that book and the 4th Ed Revised Rulebook. (Nothing major with the basic rules, just equipment carried by tournament-legal mechs which used to be Level 3 rules, plus new equipment I haven't seen before.) Therefore I have ordered the new Introductionry Box Set off Alan (The 'Mechs in said box set will form starter lances for new players.) and will see whats new, and if it's needed by current players. Should be able to tell all by end of next week.
From the blurb on the website, the time period covered by the box set covers 3025-3049 (4th Succession War to start of Clan Invasion) (although the rulebook seems to be mostly the same as the last, with the rules for Clan equipment) with the further support coming from separate books Technical Readout: 3039 and the 'starter book' Sword and Dragon.

From the website;
(Quote) Catalyst has worked hard to take a property with a long legacy and create a new, definitive series of products that easily steps retailers and players into the game, regardless of whether they’re long-time players that have stayed with the game, back after a long hiatus, or picking the game up for the very first time. The addition of this new rulebook will further accentuate that "easy-step-mentality," logically staging players further into the game and universe.
Classic BattleTech Introductory Box Set
Technical Readout 3039
Starterbook: Sword and Dragon
These are the introductory products to the game, leaping players easily into the game and universe and then providing a comprehensive and smooth transition out of the base box set, all over-lapped to guide new players further into the game and universe.
Total Warfare
TechManual
Technical Readout: 3050 Upgrade
Starterbook: Wolf and Blake
These products are the core books that provide a player with endless hours of fun game play that introduces full rules for many of the units only hinted at in the Introductory Box Set, while priming them for the more advanced rules - and the current universe-shacking storylines - conveyed through the coming rulebooks, as well as Technical Readout: 3075 and Blake Ascending: A Jihad Compilation.
Tactical Operations
This Advanced Rulebook focuses on "during game play, on a world". A plethora of advanced rules from planetary conditions to advanced weapons and equipment, as well as general rules such as minefields, artillery, taking control of abandoned units, battlefield wreckage and more are all included. Game play and construction rules for Advanced Rules Support Vehicles are also covered. (Quote)
Note that quite a few of these books are not yet released. To be honest from the looks of things that you only really need the Box Set, Total Warfare and maybe Tactical Operations.
As for the 'more advanced rules conveyed through the coming rulebooks' these seem to be for a Federation and Empire-esque game using the 'Tech rules and can be ignored for now.
Count the Ghost Bears in. Hmmm...during this era I was a crusader, perhaps I'll have to buy more mechs :P

What size forces are you looking at,from past experience our games have been to big and complicated, i would suggest we use single stars for clan and 2 lances for innersphere max.
Ofcourse the clanners should have to bid to get the honour of battle so may have even less stuff but some kick ass pilots.

Count me in as M.A.C or Clan Wolf
wolfs dragoons....in
can also play draconis combine so if i have any old mechs there in to,
they are coming and they have a plan.....hehe
The Question

*takes deep breath*
Firstly, my panic over rules was unfounded, all the rules remain from the last time, but old hands may wish to buy Total Warfare for the new (tournament-legal) equipment.
Secondly, this campaign is casual, there will be no bidding for the Clan players, that way all participants get a game! (Imagine players being constantly being shoved out of the way because of different Clan players bidding lower forces.)
Thirdly, at the moment I am tentively setting Inner Sphere forces at a company (3 Lances) MAXIMUM. Clan forces will be set at a Binary (2 Stars). This way new players can gather a viable force easily. Pilots will be set at 4/5 for the Inner Sphere and 3/4 for the Clans.
Fourthly, the historical forces were;
Inner Sphere;
Federated Commonwealth (Federated Suns/Lyran Commonwealth, House Davion/House Steiner)
Draconis Combine (House Kurita)
Mercenaries (Wolf's Dragoons, Kell Hounds, etc)
ComStar (Battle of Tukayyid only)
Clans;
Clan Wolf
Clan Ghost Bear
Clan Jade Falcon
Clan Diamond Shark
Clan Smoke Jaguar (potencial new players be warned, this Clan was destroyed in 3060)
Clan Nova Cat
Clan Steel Viper
If any one wishes to use non-historical forces such as House Liao or House Marik however, I am prepared to allow some leeway in this matter.
will the wolfs dragoons have to abide by the inner sphere regs of 3 lances or have 2 stars.. iam tihnking inner sphere but thought it worth the question.
they are coming and they have a plan...hehe

ok count me in as Clan Wolf then i have 2 stars of mechs which include 3 x Timberwolf the ultimate Clan Wolf mech in my opinion
It seems with Catalyst aquiring 'tech that it might be about to go through something of a rennaisance. This can only be a good thing.
I'll happily sign up my DCMS 3rd Benjamin Regulars. I've got plenty of 3050 mechs I can use, even if it does hurt a lot to put my MRM heavy C3 mechs aside. I've still got catapults and locusts! plus a bunch of stuff I got in preperation for a War of 3039 event which never came to fruition.
