Howdy all!

Ok, so for those who don't know what i'm doing. My army is Ogre Kingdoms, yes i know they get alot of stick for "not being in the background" and "being made up" but to those people, bite me, new things constantly happen in worlds so an empire forming and growing isn't that hard to believe so we should just accept it, ogres are here to stay.

Now background wise my army is based in the north of the Ogre Empire, up north fighting all the nasties of Choas, especially Mammoth, Beast and the other gribbly things chaos throws at us. So my Ogre tribe is going to be made to look the part with alot of mammoth skin and such. The look i am hoping for is a neolithic man kind of look, lots of clubs and very savage.

So for my first month i carefully looked at my options. I had to really decide on whether i wanted a character model or not in my first month, i had to do this because ogre charaters arn't cheap, they're big metal models and exspensive. In the end i spent my money on this:

£50: Ogre Kingdoms battalion

Now Battalions are a great way to go if you're just starting out, but for more advanced gamers they can have things that you don't want, don't need, or just won't use. Thankfully the Ogre kingdoms battalion is one of the best i think, sporting 14 Ogres and 24 Gnoblars. It has alot of options in it too, the box has the sprues for 4 Iron Guts, 6 Ogre Bulls, 4 Lead Beltchers and 24 Gnoblar warriors. From these sprues though you can make more Iron Guts and less Bulls if you wanted, or more Bulls and less Iron Guts. You can also split down them 6 Bulls into two 3 Bull units and split the 4 Lead Beltchers into 2 2 Leadbeltcher units. Gnoblars are small, with some green stuff i could convert them to trappers or leave them as fighters, the other thing is you get alot more then 24 Gnoblars, on every ogre sprue there are different Gnoblars, Sword Gnoblars, Gnoblars carrying bags, Gnoblars with fire, lots of the little things, all gnoblars and just looking for a base.

So that is my first months spending, a second post will be coming on the modeling side WITH PICTURES!!

Well i had some games today with my new army, alot of fun for the most part.

Game 1: Damons of Chaos...
Well let me say first Skulltaker is the hardest Hero level character in the game with no exceptions at all, secondly his rules are broken and he should just be avoided at all costs. So the game began, i out numbered the daemons heavilly, by turn three skull taker had killed 2 or 3 units, bloodletters though hard are not unstopable and die easy. Flamers are ridiculas if they get abit of luck, can eat entire units, but the game was won by Skulltaker. Oh well

Game 2: Darkelves
After a fairly normal deployment i forced the Darkelves to go first as i won the roll, they marched right at me, right into my guns of the lead beltchers and into chrage range. The first lead beltchers killed 6 out of the 8 Darkriders as the others killed 6 Darkelf warriors. I charged on turn one aswel, into his Coldone knights but due to some gay ass rolling (wounding with 2 out of 6 wounds, 3+ to wound) i lost the combat and lost that unit. The rest of the game was good for me though, ate most of his army. My Gnoblar Trappers were fun hidding in trees, throwing rocks at elves, was fun, good victory.

Game 3: Me and Darkevles Vs Skaven and Skanven
I shall start by saying that Skaven are the one army in Warhammer that i hate to fight because if there general has there wits about them then they should win, thankfully me and Chris (Darkelf guy from game 2) were up against some... very Skaven players, alot of chittering and bickering, it made the game fun though. Skaven are scary because they have *alot* of shooting and magic missles and huge numbers. Again i forced them to go first, we got shot, magic missled and advanced upon, it was expected. But the coldone knights got hit bad and only the champion was left, this champion however scared off a Warplock engineer and and warpfire thrower, that champion ended up dieing but took the fire thrower with him. We sniped alot of characters with bolt throwers. There was alot of combat and well... Ogres kill skaven good in combat. Fun day.

All in all the day was good and Ogres seemed to work well.

Pictures still on there way.

Lets be fair, to say that rules are broken after one game is a little harsh and un-scientific, Skulltaker is a very hard character killer and thats what he does best, if he can fight a foe 1 at a time he is going to kick ass. However he only has two wounds which he can also lose through instability.

Lets look at the game we played you had 6 or 7 units and about 200 points advantage, i had 4 one of which was skulltaker i knew that i was dead if you could gang up on me thats why when i saw that terrain and your deployment had split your forces i pushed forwards quickly to fight 3 of your units with 3 of mine giving me the edge, as it happened some cunning manoever of skulltaker allowed him to kill the gnoblars and persue into the ogres and fight again so not only were your units outclassed but he got to fight twice in 1 turn. That was a little skill on my part and luck not skulltakers rules being broken.

Just to summarise he will always be tough in smaller games especialy when converted to ride Khul'tyran (thats why i picked him first) i suggest we wait till we use him in regular size games before we complain of broken rules.

Thanks for listening.......... your friendly neighbourhood Khorne worshiper

Remach.....we demand a remach....

This time there will be a victor and we will be more..........co-ordinated....

Though my skaven comrade is in a campaign game next STAGS i propose a small Border Patrol game to sedate my need for a remach, only got the start of an army so far ;)

If you are there and have the time of course :)
