After having a sneak peek ot the new book, all i can say is wow, for the first time since the realms of chaos book was released (decades ago) have the demons been given character and finally we have an army book that isnt just a rehash.
They also have some funky new rules that have been taken from some very old books, much better than taking rules from other races and renaming them like so many army books have had in the past.
The deamonic spell lists are especialy tasty.
good... but the new deamon models look old school still... :D
when can i get my demonic little claws on a book?
Hows this thursday/Friday sound ash? :D all of it is released this week!
Gooooood....
i hope its full of cheese... :D
boxes of crackers will be on sale in local stores to go with your cheesy new book :D

I wouldnt say they are any more cheesy, but they have some new rules and spells rather than your usual d6 str 4 hits spells that everyone gets.
I'm glad the greater daemons have a bigger role in the army now, and love the fact that the special characters range from greater right down to lower daemons.
model wise, i still think the deamonettes look like old wemon with banshee hair and features... more of a vampire feel then a demonic elegence... however i think the new bloodletters *athough they dont have axes* look fantastic and i would start a force purly of them (i like the fiddly models like deamonettes and dyrads) also the bloodletters on them mounts look rather jammy :D , nurgle gets a new command force and hero models nothing really newish, and nor does the last one, main focus seems to be on the blood thirsty lot... oh well... anway slannesh did get a 1d6 strengh 5 hit whip magic spell as a level 1 6+ spell... i hope its somthing like 4d6 strength 10 :D
basicly i would do an army of Khorne, using Bloodcrushers as many Bloodletters as i could cram in, lead by a Herald of Khorne on Juggernaut... beacuse its a cool model... shame i do slannesh
All arrived today must say basic box sets and the books have been selling quiet well:)

SAVE ME ONE!!!
SAVE ME ONE!!!
Hmmm wonder if he means one of everything.......:D
The books seem very popular so far and from the people iv spoken too most like the new figures and think that the box sets are very well priced as most are in the £12 range, this has made one or two people think about doing daemon forces even if its only say 1000pt ones, and many buy the new figures to boost their existing forces etc. Overall seems like a good release from GW this time around, lets hope this is the shape of things to come with them.
Hmmm disgusting new daemons huh? I'll have to take a gander at the new book to see just HOW disgusting.
Are there rules like those in the inquisition books which allow special rules to be in place whilst fighting daemons? Like holy water... or anti oh-my-god-wtf spray?

No rules like that, its just a book for lovely deamons and all their history.
oohhh... im going to love fighting goblins with my magic of slannesh!!! :D .
what leadership is that thing?... oh 7 eh?... ok its 5 now... and by the way you now need to roll 3 d6 for leadership tests and discard the lowest... and now take d6 strength 5 hits... roll a LD test... failed?... take another d6 strength 5 hits... make a ld test... :D
and then to top it off... you mr goblin on the spider... make a LD test...
failed?.... take D6 wounds.... no armor saves!...
"Dance goblin.... DANCE!!! *snap*"
athough i am starting to like the new deamonette models...
they are alot bigger then the older ones... made of plastic so they dont die if you knock them and also lots of conversions can be made :p
in total... the new book isnt cheese, the line formation is cheese... this is just a well ballenced book / rules / stats...

I love the fact that the spells arent the same as everyone elses, the same old d6 str 4 hits for the first spell list. I think my favorite is tzeentchs spell Glean magic to cast a spell that an enemy mage knows, thats an old school spell from many editions ago.
Also theres a spell that creates nurglings how cool is that!
Despite what GW have said, having read the book it would seem quite feasable to do a legion devoted to one god: It'd be a hard army to use (Tzeentch having no real combat units for example) but still effective.
The core units are nasty as any unit devoted to a god comes with that god's special rule (Tzeentch: Flaming Attacks, Slaanesh: Armour Peircing, Khorne: Killing Blow and Nurgle: Poisoned Attacks). Add that to a fear causing unit for 12 points per model and you have a deadly core choice. If you decide to add a herald to the unit then they'll benefit from an extra rule too! (Khorne: Hatred, Tzeentch: 4+ Ward, Slaanesh: Always Strike First and Nurgle: Regeneration!)
Overall a the daemons have had minor tone downs (screamers, furies and greater daemons in paticular, bloodletters however are disgustingly harder!), the instability rule is safer now and at bloody last the daemon save is now a ward and not an aura!
The background section is very good, with a much more in-depth look at each of the daemons, and more importantly the Gods and their territory in the realms of chaos. Unfortunately though, unless your a fan of John Blanche you won't be impressed with the artwork as he does 75% percent of the illustrations thought they do suit the book and the other 25% are fantastic.
All in all a nice book, with a new feel to the army and a good release on models.
I'd aggree with most of it but screamers have not been toned down, they have been made harder i think. They are weaker, yes, but anyone who has screamers doesn't put them in a posistion to get shot anyway, they're flyers and they can hide. There slashing attacks can now hit multiple units aswel, that is disgusting, 5 of them can cause massive damage over just about anything now.
Just read Dan's post. Thank the Gods! Someone else who doesn't like John Blanches artwork! I was beginning to think it was just me..... :)

I hate his scratchy half finished load of crap artwork.
The greater deamons havent been toned down either, their basic stats may have but thats because they get full ward save better instability and loads of options, for example what can tyrion now do against a bloodthirster with obsidian armour LOL
