View Full Version : Union attack repulsed - 18 March 1863
Hello everyone,
The Corps commander ordered my re-inforced Brigade to attack the Confederate lines at what was assumed to be a weak point. However, the advance revealed two hidden regiments which meant the boys in blue were attacking on a 1:1 basis. Needless to say the attack was soundly repulsed with minimal casualties for the Rebs. :o
However, despite being thoroughly thrashed, I enjoyed the game and I'll be back for another beating. :D
Was once again a very interesting game to observe, Robin seemed to be working real hard at times to hold the union line together, I thought he did realy well to cope with what was a lot of units for his first solo well done there!
Using the time charts etc to see day light hours pass did i feel put pressure on an attacking player as they could see day light slipping away and darkness approaching, should see more of them charts being used.
Had a couple of interesting points about things pointed out and we clarified them, troops on table all looked good and table layout was once again excellent, andys new fields that he has made were great, must have more veggie fields as they were good and did not block LOS etc like corn fields do.
Newbie jade phonix didnt seem to have any real problems and its always nice to se a new player onboard, he should fit in nicely and be a good addition to what we are doing.
Overall Nice one guys, cant wait to see next clubs big second part game :D

Victory can only be attributed to the good lord who blesses us with divine providence in this our second war of independence.
IB really does have the feel of civil war battles, right down to the resilience of regiments, once the union lines broke it was very difficult for the Rebs to actually catch them and wipe them out to force a decisive result, at least 2 thirds of each union regiment survived and started to reform near their own table edge, while my rebs lost more morale steps trying to push on fast to wipe them out than they did in the fight. This nicely represents regiments becoming disorganised as they push on exactly as what happened at Chancellorsville.
Overall cant wait to finish painting my first brigade so that my Virginia boys can show the blue bellies the bayonet.
Yes the game had a good "feel" to it overall
