It is well known that during the civil war many soldiers from both sides would meet to swap gossip and chit chat during the lul in battles or at night when on picket duty so feel free to use this thread for any "babbles" that you may wish, or topics that may not be suitable in the other threads. Or just for your own civil war idle chit chat and comments and "fight'n talk":)

Johnny Reb bring on whtever you can The Union will survive.

Tales of OLD Virginia holds no weight with the LOYAL boys in blue.

We will teach the rebel deserters what LOYALITY really means.

Gen Robert E Flee oops sorry Lee (Flee what he did at Gettysberg)

Grant and Sherman send you this message Surrender now and save us the trouble of wiping you out.

Well me and Andy had another cracking game on Sunday at the club, once again the game was played in a realy good way with both players enjoying the game to the full and having a fun day.
We had decided to try the union army outnumbering the rebels by 2-1 ratio so andy had 6 regiments to my 3, this proved me with a real challange and led to a fast and furious game as i went for the union throat. We used the random event cards and once again i drew a "no event" card whilst andy drew the "suprise attack" card this allowed andy to bring back on one unit that he had previously lost in battle ( card simulates reinforcments being shipped in via rail head etc) when that happened im affraid the poor ole boys in grey had had enough and we called it a day.

Overall andy gave me a realy challenging game again and the cards were great to use as they say "no plan survives contact with the enemy" so they gave some nice unexpected elements to the battle.

What was also interesting was that we tried out 2 new ideas we have being toying with for some time now first off was the use of the "rebel yell" this gave the rebels a plus 1 coloumn shift when deciding hand to hand combat but only on the first turn of impact, worked realy well.
Second up was the use of the new "column of march" where we allowed a column of troops with a 4 frontage but depth greater than 4 to move a little more rapidly in column ( we added 2 inches) but only up to the combat zone as we all know during this time no one actually fought in column anymore as a rule, once again worked realy well, thanks andy for the imput on this one and allowing its trial run:)
