Right, if your reading this you should already be aware that myself and Shane play Dark Angel Armies and are looking to do an apocalypse game with our armies combined, currently this army numbers at 12,000pts roughly.

So the plan so far is that we, plus help from Jadawi will play the Dark Angels against Nethirsalis, WeAreGrey and Warlord Krumpit with 4,000pts each, with limited use of apoc units.

Points will be more exact nearer the time but this seems a good number to work on. Cool so far people?

Dan.

Right, ive worked out my 4000 point list. Consists of my Kult of Speed + Mekboy & Friends. Oh yeah and a pulsa rocket :D Just wondering how many Assets we get each?

Not a problem, just let me know of anything in particular that needs doing/using in the game.

Also has anyone thought about objectives/scenario for the game? or got anything in particualr they want to do. (Kinda looking at the Dark Angel guys as its your game! What do you want to do/try with them?)

I know i'm not exactly in on this but the best idea i could think of is still hunting the fallen if there are Chaos involved, good use of the Deathwing Redemption force then too. Just an idea :)

I was discussing this with Shane in the shop today. We thought maybe the chaos could be harboring some fallen & the orks have been "just as planned" into attacking at the same time by the tzeentch forces and are basically there to loot landraiders. However i think this may need elaborating a little :P

Sounds like it could work well as the basic premise, only need to think about objectives/scenario/background for it.

Having spoken to Shane breifly the objectives for the orks is to loot as many landraiders as they can, each one of them in our force being an objective. For us we will be hunting the fallen, with a number of fallen equal to the numbers of landraiders being spread out across the Choas & orks. I think until we see the forces on the day though that's as far as we can elaborate.

Shane also mentioned that the deployment phase had been discussed and may be modified so that the Dark Angels (Hallowed be their names :P) will deploy in the centre of the table while the Orks and Chaos split their force and deploy on each short edge to represent the forces chasing us off Leminkainen from the last apoc event and the reinforcements surrounding us? thoughts?

I regret to say i will be unable to attend next STAG's and therefore unable to play in the game.

I have disscussed with Dan what we can do to balance the sides in my absence.

Sorry about this guys.

Stan what evilness do you have at your service?
I will be bringing my 3 land raiders and think they make good ork looting potential,so 3 objectives. If they are destroyed, wrecked or imobilised and have an uncontested ork unit in contact they are won by the orks.If they break through the bad guys lines they are our retained objectives.
Equivalent number of "fallen" with the bad guys could be our objectives.
Thought on movement, distribution and how to take them appreciated.
Jim will you be there?
Should the Dark Angels have some sort of "break-out" requirement?
Shane
ps was thinking of a time limit per side of 25 mins (move, shoot and assault)
should get 5 turns each then (if you limit comittee stuff guys!!!)

Also was thinking of setting a reserves limit of 25% per side. The "re-deploying" Dark Angels, the persuing baddies and the encountered flankers all being in designated and pre-dispositioned locations!
Thoughts please

I think with 20 minute turns would get more done :)

Afraid I can make no promises regarding the committee stuff but will do our best :D Jim unfortunately won't be there neither will Rob. If evryone is agreed Stan could field his Nids in support.

sorry guys, but i've had to put back the day i move back to telford by a day, meaning i'll be coming back on the sunday of stags :( so i'll miss it, but i'll be there from then on, so can get somthing sorted.

and in terms of what i got, its lots of nids, and some big nids, and an even bigger nid, so should be able to have some good themed games in the future

Sorry you cant make STAGS Stan. Personally I have a problem with nids as allies for anyone-they just want to injest everything!!!!Similar problem with Necrons taking sides-its just all flesh!!!(I do like the idea of them both attacking everyone randomly though).
Pils would you like to control a 3rd of the Dark Angels maybe,a bit of a come down I know ;)
Warlord Krumpit I know it means more turns with 20 mins but I dont think they would be full turns, especially if I am controlling 6000 points! One complicated assault can be 10 minutes!
If we outnumber the cursed alliance maybe ours could be a break-out mission where more points is fair.
Finally (for the next 2 minutes anyway) how do I create one of those finishing repeated quotes please?

So who's in?How many points? And ideas for scenario/mission etc.Lets not turn up with blank faces and brains sunday (mines still blank from friday night!:) )

Ok right lol. I refuse to play a game where we just set up play 3 turns and then have to go. I'm up awake and my army is packed. Here is what i think the scenario should be.

Fluff
After the failed assault on the ork base the dark angels are about to retreat down a safe corridor while being pursued by the orks. However On route they discover there is a traitor enclave not far away harboring some fallen. Not wanting to miss an opportunity to silence there secret they redirect from the safe corridor towards the fallen.

Crunch

20 minute turns. Its the only way we are going to get even 5 turns in. You will have to priorities what you want to accomplish in your turn.

The Dark Angels have till half 12 to deploy their army in the center of the table. Any forces not deployed by then are assumed to be lost in the previous battle. (Basically the idea is that you just get your army down on the table quick as you can, representing the confusion of the change of plan)
The dark angels win 1 objective per thousand points they get over the far table edge. Also 1 objective per fallen slain.

The orks will be deployed on either table edge, with one of them being designated as the exit point for the dark angels. Ideally we need a chaos force to harbor the fallen but failing that he will just be lurking about somewhere. The orks get one objective per thousand points remaining on the table at the end of the game representing the orks turning up en mass n krumpin everyone n looting all there stuff. The orks will receive the flank march asset and one orbital bombardment per turn to represent the guns from the ork base bombing the position.

Right, what does everyone think? Any suggestions (even from none players, impartial criticism is the best kind)

Sounds good.I think the Dark Angels are onto a bit of hiding-to-nothing since the forces are balanced and we get bombarded and we have to break out but thats the price we pay for the outcome of the last big encounter!
Its only war after all!

The dark angels were split up into two forces on each flank. One comprising mainly terminators and land raiders commanded by shane, on the other Dan had a load of rhinos filled with nasty things. The orks consisted of my force of a mekboy and his friends along with some looted wagons and a few very worried looking imperial guardsmen in one corner along with Sams force mainly consisting of a stompa with other stuff to come on in reserve. The ork mekboy was guarding a gun uplink centre which while active would mean we got an orbital bombardment per turn till it was taken over. There was some fallen about as well for the dark angels to hunt lol at points litrally where i hid one over the battle and played a version of wheres walley but i digress.

The dark angels strategically redeployed on each flank and opened a can of whoop ass. Orks flank marched, killed some stuff, then ate power fist. At the end of the battle quite a lot of orks were dead, however barely any of the dark angels managed to escape the battle field and they missed there flight out of there. So they are currently still on the planet and surrounded by a lot of angry orks.

The Dark Angels completely lost sight of their orders to re-group on hearing a rumour of some "Fallen" in the vacinity, and the Orks threw enough forces in to distract them from departing.Finding the fallen seemed to bring out a blood lust killing spree.
My thought that a force breaking out needed a lot more points didn't seem quite as relevant in Apocalypse as in 40k.(although we didn't actually break-out! lol and more points didn't swing the "Big Day"!).
The sight of over 11000 points of Dark Angels on one large battle field was spectacular I thought, very cinematic! It included 80 termies plus termie suited characters.
There was some thought that the time limits we placed on the turns favoured the elite forces over the hoards forces. In retrospect they probably only lost out in the shooting phase, and a bit in the movement phase, as their "attacks back" would eat into our assault phase time in our turns.
I hope we can continue the narative a bit later in the year, maybe a dash to the recently vacated space port-and attempt to take and hold it long enough to get reinforcements or lifted out.
I had a thoroughly enjoyable day with the Death Wing performing much better than on the "Big Day".I felt a bit guilty with all those 2+ saves but what the heck-I have also played Eldar for years and suffered their low numbers AND frailty!
Congratulations to Sam and Preston on their victory, denying us our main objective. Our consolation is absolution for our "lost" bretheren and an end to the bombardment of any other stragglers stranded in this region.
