The new Spacewolf stuff on BOLS is sounding very funky, looks like the Leman Russ tank is out of the list but a new landraider variant is in its place but the best news is that Ragnar gives his army fleet yay!
ah crap! as if assaulting space pups with 4 attacks each and more power weapons than the emperors personal vault wasn't bad enough!!!

Bloodclaws loose the +2 attacks on the charge but are supposed to be WS4 and have furious charge

awww, I'd rather of had the +2 attacks and actually be individual *sigh*

also Plastic grey hunter from GW's newsletter
i imagine they will be individual in their own way, but a lot of the old codex will be brought back in line with the current universal special rules, and furious assault does fit for space wolves

true, I've just not been a huge fan of giving every army the same universal rules, I preferred the old days when every army had there own rules, so all units were different to another, I'm still stuck in the past, but its nice there :p

I have seen reports of other stuff that they are getting that is very different, the lords will be getting a lot of options that build up a saga and a skill set to match. Longfangs maybe getting relentless as well as split fire, needless to say the chaos players on lots of forums have been bitching about it.
That would be very good!!!! and would cetainly stand them apart from devestators. lets hope its true, will make them a very different army to play rather than just a 3+ save usually lead by lysander in various colours!!
Whoot for Wolves!
It's about time we got a good clean codex, there may be some cheese in the book, there may not, i'm hoping for background, pages and pages of text to read about them :D
Then again... if there is cheese I may finally be able to have some, I only hope that they keep Wolves completely unortherdox and none vannilla, as long as we're different i'll be happy :)
I also hope we keep the 3+ to hit Tzeentch and dark angels, although I doubt it unfortunatly
The best that can be hoped for is preffered enemy against them, if they keep it in the book but i am doubtful
*Playa hater enters*
Ahhh Spacewolves... seriously guys, anyone who thinks that they're long overdue on some lovin is wrong... it hasn't been long enough. Don't fool yourself, they're basically chaos in a more colourful packaging.
I've hating the space pups since before it was cool to hate them. Anyone who buys the new book will, in my eyes, be a heretic.
On a lighter note, the models are nice and any army that can field actual wolves in it is quite funny. They should put lasers on their heads or summit though to make em more... awesome.
Then again... if there is cheese I may finally be able to have some,
Your joking right, The Space Wolves, with the combination of the current Marine Codex, the current Space Wolves codex, and the FAQ are probably the best army out there.
And can you blame chaos players for being a little miffed? Our codex took away almost all of our goodies (Giving us in return only BP/Bolter/CCW on troops, Lash Princes, and HS Obliterators), whereas each new Imperial Codex seems to give them a plethora of new special rules.
And we have still heard NOTHING on the Legions Codex we were promised.

Sorry but this is a thread for Spacewolf news and gossip not another area for Chaos players to cry, yes they messed up the chaos book just dont cry about it everytime a new codex comes out im tired of hearing it. GW are a business they are going to do tons of stuff for the imperials while there is a credit crunch because there are more imperial players.
Not to sound petty but you started it!! :D
You invited a response from a chaos player when you said:

Then after one had responded to chide them and simply say that this for Spacewolf news and gossip only and not for chaos - why did you bring it up in the first place?
If you mention another army, in the way that it comes accross in your post (appologies if that was not how you intened it to say), then you will get someone defending that army, as Riptor did.
If this is to be a spacewolf rumors and gossip fine and dandy, but dont bring another army into it.
(I am quite happy to discuss in another thread how the poor Chaos army has valiantly stood up to overwhelming influx of mature cheese into the Imperial codex's - but that can be another thread!) ;)

Yes i mentioned that the chaos players on other forums had been bitching about it, i thought the chaos guys on this forum were of a higher standard than that *sigh* shame i was wrong
If GW can stay in business through these hard times by making tons of stuff for the main group of players (Imperials) then so be it, the minority groups will just have to wait.
i thought the chaos guys on this forum were of a higher standard than that *sigh* shame i was wrong
comments that would pretty much be antagonizing them won't help, and don't make anyone look any better.
if you wish to insinuate that our local chaos players are no better than the 5yr olds that frequently whine on Wseer, C&B or Librarians online (names changed) then it may be best to just stay quiet instead of goading them and then complaining about them responding.
back to the space wolves though, I do wonder what will happen to the exterminator and scouts.

Gents,
As far as the space puppies go - it's just a differnet flavour of marines - should really be more combat focused (Emphasis the 'wolfine nature of hunters) and force a different play style IMHO, otherwise whats the point of just another Marine codex?
Carl - your point about the GW focus on the imperials - all well and good, but as you point out GW aren't stupid and are a successful business - no point having lots of new Imperial armies without oppostion that stands up. I've not got the intensity of interest in 40k that others have so really don't mind what comes next, but bottom line the story thread that runs through the rule book is about an embattled imperium struggling to contain the threats that are pressing on it. Chaos HAS to be a major element of opposition and that means a book that works and provides variety. My view of that is the Chaos book should emphasise the arcane and 'ageing nature' of the original Traitors from the Horus Heresy, but also the renegades flavour of those more recently corrupted.
I'd guess we probably should have a thread to prompt this discussion point - ultimately I'd love to be able to do a Black Hawk Down style scenario - Renegade Militia forces - IG stormtroopers and Vets with a specific objective - but that's a ways off at the mo (Seige of Vraks might make it possible!).
I am sick of this, we're discussing Space Wolves, one mention of chaos does not mean every chaos supporter out there needs to come on here complaining they've been wronged so quite simpley stop whinning and just use the hand you've been dealt as there's nothing that can be done about it. Though the chaos book has changed and taken the legions away you can still make a pretty damn hard army out of that book, if you want cheese you wont have a characterful force, if you want character try writting up you're own legion rules and see if someone would play test them with you. Wen new codex's come out people will loose things and people will gain things, i for one am pretty damn sure that Space Wolves will be loosing there option for Leman Russ Exterminator, i had recently just finished converting mine, am i gonna complain? No, i'll carry on and addapt my force like we ALL always have to when our codex change.
So as for space wolf rumours i have already stated that i believe that the Exterminator will almost surely be out but instead we are apparently getting a new Land Raider varient loaded with Assault Cannon :D

The new landraider sounds nice and im looking forward to being able to complete Rangnars company.
Yes i mentioned that the chaos players on other forums had been bitching about it, i thought the chaos guys on this forum were of a higher standard than that *sigh* shame i was wrong
I would like to say, I find this quite offensive, as you seem to be implying that I am immature. Yes, I mentioned that the Chaos codex is not as powerful as the Imperial one, but I was merely justifying the complaints from chaos players. How can you make a comment like that, and NOT expect any lash back from chaos players, who are perhaps only looking to make sure they do not look like whiny fools.
comments that would pretty much be antagonizing them won't help, and don't make anyone look any better.

Thank you for the compliments, but i'll have you know I make sure, personally,t hat we have little to no whining without good reason on LO. Can't say much for the other two though. :P
Ok guys i think we have all had our says etc so lets keep this thread topic online and discuss the forth coming space wolves and not get into a who said what scenario that doesnt go any where and leads to someone getting poked in the eye with rogel dorns big stick :P
As for the space wolves well a long overdue codex and upgrade for the chapter i think and hurrrahh for furry marines everywhere!.. it should bring the GW range back online now with all the marine chapters catered for in some way, the models should be good and i think this army will raise a lot of interest from the mod/converter as the possablities should be huge i realy hope they get this one right and it leads to some great things for other armies now as so far what they have being doing is top notch and if it brings people back to the game that used to play space wolves....well yay!! go space wolves :)
Anyone know if they have any yellow space wolves?
More pictures as they appear would be great to see im sure we will have the "black box" early release models well before any come out as soon as we get any concreate news ill post it, rumours are good for discussion though..well sometimes it seems :)
So dont forget this is a space wolves thread ...you have been warned1 so go pups! lets have more space wolf goodness......:)
Pils if the new book is as chee... er... well balanced as you've said can I borrow some for my book? :P

Ok guys, 2 new batches of 40k Space Wolves rumors rolled together here:
BATCH 1
"I can't really explain too much on "Sagas" and the name they have chosen to call the new marine traits.
The Space Wolf army is themed on movement. Move, Assault, Fire, Move, Assault, Fire, etc. Its not meant to be a static army. It's also an army to be filled with lots of Troop Choices.
13th Company are not officially dead but are special choices based on your army. This Im not clear on whether they are a "Legion of the Damned" choice, or something based on the HQ you purchase.
Pack Leaders are now unit upgrades and are not purchased from Elites. This Im not 100% on either.
Grey Hunters are strongly rumored to be able to take a second special weapon in their squads. That is something that I don't understand why Salamander's don't have anymore.
Long Fangs "May" be able to have some sort of a special rule where they can move and fire, but not assault.
Blood Claws have been re-worked to level with 5th Edition in respect to "Bezerk Charge." What it is Im not sure. "
BATCH 2
"What I have heard with respect to the Saga's is that
Wolf Lords will be able to take two sagas. They will have a wide variety of weapon options. I have also heard that they will be able to make on unit of Wolf Guard a troops choice but I need confirmation on this.
Wolf Priests will basically be a chaplain and apothacary combined in that they will have a Power weapon, Iron wolf amulet and Healing balms and potions as standard. So they will ignore armour saves, have a 4+ invulnerable save and confer Feel no Pain on any unit they join. They will be able to take one saga and apparently cost about 130pts.
Rune Priests will come with Force Weapon as standard and will be able to take some very nifty psychic powers unique to them. They will be able to take one Saga.
Iron Priests will be brought in line with the Techmarines of the normal codex. I do not know if they will be HQ or Elite but they too will take one Saga.
Wolf Guard battle leaders will be an upgrade for Wolf Guard packs and will be able to take one Saga as standard. "
That sounds really cool! makes them very different to regular marines, and yes there is stuff there that other chapters dont have.... but i think that better represents the codex chapters, and the divergence of space pups from that codex.
the Sagas is an interesting concept, sort of background esc special rules and stats. And as any one who has read the books can understand this is likely to develop given the training and conditions they are put through.
but i think we should all buy up wolf priests before pils and spite get their hands on them!!! they are going to be very hard!!! but i think its right that they are equipped so
The 'Saga' idea is pretty nifty i must say, i hope everything down to the squad leaders will have them and should make things much m,ore interesting.
As to the Wolfpriests i shall be getting my hands on them no matter who trys to buy them up stan :p
Not if his 'Nids make a bioweapon that wipes out all Wolf preists :P They've really gone to town on the Wolves, I can't wait to see the figures.
