Sarrah Ketta – Backstory.
Sarrah Ketta daughter of Qrulla Ketta and General Muuurgh.
One would describe their family as respected, and that to a Togorian is everything. Qrulla is a very influential figure within the city, a position only guaranteed by her partners friendship to the Alpha family. Two weeks after Muuurgh returned to his nomadic ways Qrulla was overjoyed to find herself with cub. Nine months quickly passed as Qrulla was well looked after by “H’sishi” the Alpha female who valued the support of general Muuurgh, and thus looking after her own interests ensured Qrulla’s comfort.
As with tradition Muuurgh was sent for, as to be present at his cubs birth. Roughly 15 Km from the city gates Muuurgh found himself in ambush. Seven Feral Mosgoth had set upon him, in a whirlwind of tooth and claw he found himself victorious. Breathing deeply he surveyed his would be killers still slightly twitching as the last signs of life eb away into the force. Muuurgh’s breathing had now returned to normal as the adrenalin of battle dissipated. His knee gave way, kneeling his face contorted into an agonising mess of teeth and jade eye. Clutching at his side and fumbling for a moment. All that could be heard was a feral scream. A patrolling city guard mounted on a tame Mosgoth was drawn to his location. From the sky above she swooped down just to see a bloody matted furry mess of a beast yank a 15 inch long tooth or claw from his side as he fell to the floor in a heap of mangled fur.
From Muuurgh’s Cloak’s buckle a crest of a bloody eye was engraved upon its surface and thus the Togorian identified. Within moments on the back of a Mosgoth, Muuurgh was taken directly to the Alpha City, the location he was trying for anyway.
Two weeks had passed. Muuurgh lay dead. Outside the city gates a lonely figure cradling a small bundle of fur which was wrapped in a fine cotton sheet stood. A small stone with the same bloody eye engraved upon its surface lay at her feet. Qrulla knelt down and as she did pulling the small cubs paw out of the wrapped bundle and placing her paw and her cubs on the stone she whispered, “Protect our cub my dearest Mate.” A tear fell from Qrulla’s eye as she stood and started towards the city gate.
Four months had passed, Qrulla removed from any kind of status within the city could be seen wondering the streets every evening before she would open her small store. Not much business came her way as the store was very sp****ly supplied. Qrulla would not let Sarrah out of her site. She would take her every ware. When the cub was ready for schooling she found it very hard to let her go by herself, most classes Qrulla could be found at the back of the class continuing her constant vigil upon her cub. When Sarrah reached seven years of age she would help her mother in the store, a local trader would walk in every Tuesday evening to barter for his weekly supplied. Every time he would walk in he would pick up and deeply inspect a blaster’s power cell recharger, place it exactly where it came from. He would always do this, saying out lowed with a coy grin on his face, “If I walked three doors down I would get this fifteen credits cheaper.”
Qrulla would always answer “Go and walk then you lazy dog!” she would always smile and then greet him properly. She would also have a pre made brown bag of assorted merchandise under the counter just ready for his arrival. They were happy in this ritual as it occurred every week for four years. The first time he and Qrulla spoke the trader was accompanied by a brown cloaked figure, from its stance and gate she deduced a small women lay hidden underneath the shadow of the hood. The trader spoke with Qrulla for some time about the pricing supplying and selling and such but Qrulla’s attention was firmly placed upon the figure who had walked over to Sarrah’s play area within the store, she had knelt down to the 3 year old, a good ten minutes had passed, the figure arose from Sarrah walked over to Qrulla. She Paused as if surveying her from underneath her hood. The figure rose both her hands to the rim of her hood pulling back and shaking her head tails free from there confines of the hood. what was revealed was a face of young Twilik Bluey green in appearance with striking green eyes. The figure starts talking, asking how old her daughter is. Qrulla was slightly taken aback by this, the question was simple enough but the fact that it was asked in her own native language was a shock.
The Twilik smiled. Sarrah is force sensitive I would train her if you would allow. Qrulla was in shock, after a short while she manages to stutter “NO! I shall not leave her.”
“My name is Fortuna Winter I shall be staying in a bar near a fountain for three more days, if you decide otherwise let me know.”
After showing out her two guests Qrulla was to phased to carry on with the store, she closed and locked the door and the shutters.
Three days had passed to quickly she thought as she guided Sarrah through the entrance of the bar. She gazed around, as she did she noticed the trader and the jedi sitting in a booth on the side of the room. As Qrulla studied the unhooded figure in more detail the Jedi seemed to sense this inspection and looked over to her, she beckoned her to sit at the booth. Qrulla sat down with her cub at her side.
Four years on Qrulla was glad that her daughter had been found to be force sensitive as she could now become more then she could ever hope to be staying in the city. It had been hard teaching herself day by day moment by moment to let her daughter go. Qrulla sighed as she looked over her seven year old daughter inspecting her cloak and supply pack, a final jurk of the buckle that held her pack to her shoulders to test the sturdiness of the design. “My dearest daughter you are ready” she sighed as she and Sarrah hugged. As they parted Sarrah whispers “I shall make you proud my mother.”
Fortuna Winter stepped through the beaded door a smile on her face as she inspected Sarrah, She moved through the store up to Qrulla,
“My friend your daughter is a credit to yourself and your family, I will be indebted to yourself every day of my life for entrusting the training of your daughter in the Jedi Order.”
“Fortuna you have gained my trust and that is all I need, I know you would consider her wellbeing over your own.”
With a nod of gratitude to Qrulla she walks over to Sarrah and tells her to say her farewells to her mother.
As Sarrah and Qrulla hugged, with tears in her eyes Qrulla whispers, “Good luck my daughter always remember your famly.”
As Fortuna Guided Sarrah through the city to her private transport she explained that I must first be interviewed by the council before I could officially be accepted as a her padawan.
It had taken 5 days to get to the Jedi temple, Sarrah waited outside two huge oak doors on a small marble bench carved into the side of the wall. Fortuna had spent a good ten minutes so far in converse with master Yoda and Master Shaak Ti. One of the doors gently opened, Fortuna’s face appeared in the gap with a smile and a gentle gesture she motioned Sarrah forward.
Inside the Council chambers there was only Shak Ti and Yoda present in person, there was a number of life size holograms surrounding the centre circle but they remained silent and observant of the young Togorian. Fortuna guided Sarrah into the centre of the circle so that all could see the child before them. Yoda and Shaak Ti paced around Sarrah at exactly opposing positions, Sarrah noticed this and found it quite funny thinking to herself it was like watching a choreographed tribal dance. This must have been echoed through the force as Yoda’s Grimace turned to that of a grin.
Shaak Ti was the first to speek,
“Master Yoda I sense her longing for her home, her mother.”
“Indeed Shaak Ti, wouldn’t you if taken from home you had, set upon by two circling creatures as she has. hehehe”
At this comment Sarrah smiled deeply and found herself calming and understanding the reason behind the inspection. Shaak Ti however did not seem to be in on the joke and making herself stationary glanced at Yoda wondering his meaning. Sarrah although sure of the reason for the interview willed herself to comment,
“My masters Why do you look upon me so.”
“Indeed youngling Shaak Ti responded, it was a mere test of your personality, your intelligence.” Privately Shaak Ti now understood Yoda’s earlier comment.
“Sarrah could you please wait outside I would Confer with my Masters Yoda and Shaak Ti.”
Sarrah looked at Yoda and in turn Shaak Ti, “My masters” she bowed her head as she started towards the door.
“Stay I wish you Sarrah” Yoda replied, “Beyond her years in her understanding of the Force she is, I sense an interesting future this youngling has.”
“Youngling! Master Yoda you have not considered this properly….
“Shaak Ti, Your feelings on this matter I understand, a longing that will never be subdued there is, The Order must help this one, she would become a great asset I feel, nurture her we must, yes.”
“Shaak Ti, I ask you train her in the lightsaber art’s I do, perhaps a lightsaber from your own collection. Fortuna will be her master I think, believe we all must help this one I do, she I think will benefit from this philosophy, yes.”
Ten years passed: The Clone Wars. Order 66.
The Murder of her Master Fortuna Winter.
Outcast and alone Sarrah journeys home to her mother, on rout the transport comes under attack from forces of the empire. The ship which was carrying mostly evacuees was forced to make an emergency landing upon an unknown moon. Her destiny begins.
